Washington Area Agencies Open With Unscheduled Leave
First snow of new year comes during morning rush hour.
Federal agencies in the Washington area will be open Tuesday, with the option for employees to take unscheduled leave or telework, the Office of Personnel Management announced.
Snow was falling in the D.C. area as the morning rush hour began to unfold.
"Non-emergency employees must notify their supervisor of their intent to use unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework (if telework-ready)," OPM said in its announcement. Emergency employees are expected to report to work on time.
OPM recently announced changes to the government's inclement weather policy reflecting the increased availability of telework.
