Play of the Day: The Gyrocopter Man and Other American Journeys
How effective was the gyrocopter's flight onto the Capitol grounds?
Florida mail carrier Doug Hughes was arrested Wednesday after he landed a one-man gyrocopter onto the grounds of the U.S. Capitol Building. Late-night television got to the story Thursday night, with The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore accepting that Hughes' protest was effective once everyone started talking about campaign finance reform. The Late Show's David Letterman wondered about if Hughes thought he was George Jetson and even put together a top ten list of questions Hughes should've asked before he took flight.
The Daily Show used a segment to award the 2015 'Mercun Awards to news stories that exemplify this country in its current state. Check out the awards' highlight at 2:15, featuring an armadillo, a firearm and a trailer home.
