DoJ Official Had Sex With 'Numerous' Women on Federal Property, Then Lied About It
Top U.S. Marshal employee snuck non-government individuals onto government property, investigators find.
A top career official at the Justice Department “engaged in sexual activity with several different women” on government property, according to a new investigative report.
The chief deputy U.S. Marshals Service employee initially lied to the Justice inspector general when confronted about the activity, the auditors said on Monday. They found the official, who was not named in the report, allowed unauthorized non-government individuals he was dating to park their vehicles within government property.
The IG initiated the investigation based on “information it received” about the sexual activity, which it later substantiated. The investigators found the employee contacted the women with whom he had relationships and encouraged them not to talk to the IG. The individual was also found to have given unauthorized information regarding a fugitive matter to a reporter.
The investigators declined to pursue prosecution and will instead leave the matter to the Marshals Service. The Justice Department and Marshals Service did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
