Building a strong foundation: Insights and strategies for federal AI adoption

Data-driven decision-making has long been a mission enabler for the federal government, but the proliferation of new artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) tools presents both opportunities and challenges for agencies. 

Mandates from the top, including the Executive Order on responsible AI, are asking agencies to integrate these tools as quickly as possible. However, ensuring robust data governance and building holistic guidelines for responsible AI can be a daunting task for agencies that may not have the budget or bandwidth to dedicate personnel to address these specific challenges.
