Senator criticizes FBI, CIA over public fight
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Bob Graham, D-Fla., Tuesday admonished the FBI and CIA for getting in "almost a children's playground fight" through the media, as the committee begins private hearings on the events leading to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A number of reports in recent weeks have cited intelligence information that was available to either of the two agencies before the attacks, citing government sources.
"This is going to be a difficult challenge and period, and we all need to act like adults," Graham said. He added that the committee hearings would investigate what happened, assess strengths and weakness, and advocate "a set of policy changes that will reduce the chances of it happening again."
Graham said the committee's public hearings will begin June 25.
