Last U.S. surge troops leave Afghanistan
Withdrawal leaves about 68,000 U.S. troops in the country.
The last of the 33,000 American troops in Afghanistan who were a part of the surge President Obama had ordered almost two years ago have left that country, the Associated Press reports. The number of American troops in Afghanistan peaked last year at about 101,000, reports AP.
The withdrawal leaves about 68,000 troops in Afghanistan, according to AP, at a time when attacks on U.S. troops by Afghan army troops and police, or those dressed like them, have increased.
