As the U.S. unemployment rate reaches numbers not seen  since the Great Depression, businesses both large and small are shedding jobs at unseen rates since that period. The official number is 14.7%, but some estimates done by organizations like the Associated Press put the unofficial unemployment rate closer to 25%.
