Countering Cyber Adversaries: Attack Trends and the Importance of Speed
Private sector organizations and federal, state, and local agencies are all responsible for protecting sensitive information from global criminal groups and nation-states. While public and private sectors may operate in different environments and at different scales, their defensive cyber practices can and should incorporate the same strategies: hunting continuously, utilizing cloud-enabled technologies, and prioritizing speed with the “1-10-60 Rule.” During this keynote address, CrowdStrike’s Co-Founder and CTO, Dmitri Alperovitch, will discuss the key to having successful cybersecurity strategy that enables organizations to gain the upper hand against cyber adversaries.

Panel Discussion: Modernizing Services and Protecting Data with the Cloud
As federal agencies take steps to modernize, many are moving information and operations to the cloud in order to better manage, organize and protect the massive amounts of data that the government collects. While this transition to the cloud can increase agility, scale and speed, the impact of these benefits will be determined by adopting the right technologies, strategies and processes for your agency. During this panel discussion, we’ll gather IT leaders to discuss best practices for adopting cloud technologies and, implementing standards to secure them, and outline how leveraging cloud for cybersecurity will keep the nation’s critical data safe.

Strength in Numbers: Finding Private/Public Sector Synergy in Global Cyber Defense
The private and public sectors must work in harmony if we are to be successful in keeping our nation – and its most precious data and infrastructure assets – safe from sophisticated cyber adversaries. In many cases, this is easier said than done.
In this keynote, Shawn Henry will share from his experience as one of the FBI’s most influential executives, explaining why he transitioned to the private sector, and what he has subsequently learned as one of private industry’s most trusted cyber defense experts. You’ll also hear:
- What the public sector can learn from the private sector’s approach to adopting and embracing modern cyber security measures
- Why public agencies sometimes lack the people, process, technology and leadership to achieve their cyber mission, and how they can overcome these obstacles
- Essential practices government agencies must put in place to prevent an incident from becoming a breach
- What a proactive strategy for achieving private/public sector synergy might look like, and how it would benefit all parties
