The CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics generates information that helps move forward some of the most important healthcare decisions.

But survey data that this information is based on is increasingly challenging to collect. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) may offer a solution with rich data sets, but can be fraught with concerns, as they contain significant amounts of sensitive personal information. Partnering with IBM, NCHS has completed a proof of concept using blockchain showing that it’s possible to securely and automatically process EHR data to generate insights needed to support national healthcare decisions.
