GSA Databases on CD-ROM

The procurement database is of interest to procurement officials throughout the government, and is also used by private sector vendors as a guide to business opportunities. It is the key database used by in producing the annual issue, which is to be published in paper form during the third week of this month. The Top 200 issue ranks federal contractors in more than 40 different categories--including by sales to the largest procuring agencies and by classification of goods and services sold. Government Executive has already posted its on this web site, and it is fully searchable as well. The Top 200 cover story and other articles describing key trends in federal procurement will be available on the GE web site next week.

GSA Databases on CD-ROM

GSA has released two key databases on CD-ROM: the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance for 1996 and the Federal Procurement Data System for fiscal 1995.

The Federal Procurement Data System is the central repository for all procurement contracts valued at more than $25,000. Everything in the database can now be located by key-word search, and the database now contains complete addresses of Federal contracting officers for the first time.

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance is the Federal Government's official guide to Federal assistance programs. It includes information on more than 1,300 programs administered by 53 agencies.
