The Senate Thursday voted 69-30 to restore 34 of the 38 projects in the fiscal 1998 military construction appropriations bill that President Clinton canceled with his line item veto authority.
The margin of victory would be sufficient to override a presidential veto of this disapproval bill, which also must be approved by the House and signed into law.
Clinton earlier this month used his authority to eliminate projects worth $287 million from the $800 million military construction appropriation.
