New Web service designed to aid federal job hunters

A new Web service is designed to save federal employees looking to climb the career ladder the hassle of combing through thousands of job descriptions in search of that perfect job.

Visitors to the new service, Federaljobsearch.com create an automated job search profile, choosing location, minimum salary and job title keywords. The program then generates a list of federal job titles to choose from. Once titles are selected, the new profile is saved and archived.

Users then receive daily e-mail reports presenting jobs that meet the selected criteria. The daily reports are free, but do not include links to full job descriptions. In order to see the descriptions, along with experience requirements, job application instructions and contact information, users must subscribe to Federaljobsearch.com. Subscriptions cost $9.95 for one month, $14.95 for two months, and $24.95 for three months.

Federaljobsearch.com indexes job listings from the Office of Personnel Management nightly, including jobs abroad and in U.S. overseas territories. A map allows users to view federal job openings by state. Other search capabilities allow users to browse jobs by agency and occupation.

If you're an office clerk or a training support manager, you'll have a lot of jobs to choose from. According to Federaljobsearch.com, there were nearly 500 of each of those kinds of jobs open as of July 30. Painters aren't quite as much in demand-only 28 such jobs were listed.
