If you are a federal employee in the Washington area, it's time to toot your own horn or fluff your co-workers' feathers- several local awards are up for grabs from the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.
NCAC is looking for nominees for the following awards:
- The President's Award for Outstanding Public Service goes to recent or long-term contributors to policy or management, whether through tangible action or scholarly research. Employees in career or non-career positions at the federal, state or local level are encouraged to apply, as are academic experts.
- The Elmer B. Staats Award for Accountability in Government goes to people who analyze the effectiveness of government programs. Anyone whose studies have a wide scope and impact is invited to apply.
- The NCAC/Government Executive Magazine Leadership Award honors those who break down barriers between political appointees and career executives and between the executive and legislative branches, and who improve the public's view of government.
If you know anyone who deserves a little recognition, send a biography or resume and a nomination letter of no more than two pages that tells why the person meets the award criteria.
Nominations must include the name of the award for which the individual is nominated; the nominee's name, title, agency or organization, home and work addresses and phone numbers; the nominator's name, title, organization, address and phone number; and a brief description of the individual's accomplishments.
