Your office's computer help desk representatives help you with your techno-troubles all the time; now you can return the favor.
Daryl Covey, help desk manager for the nation's Doppler weather radar network, has put together a free conference for federal help desk personnel Feb. 29 in Washington, D.C.
"We're kind of the grease that makes the government's wheels go around," Covey said of help desk staff.
The program will look at ways federal help desks and call centers can be better managed, as well as give managers and representatives a chance to network and brainstorm with other help desk personnel from around government.
Speakers at the conference, including Susan Valaskovic, deputy director of the National Partnership for Reinventing Government, and Ron Muns, chairman of the International Help Desk Institute, donated their time to the event. Ziff-Davis agreed to host the free conference.
Covey is also the creator of the online Federal Help Desk Registry, an online forum for help desk staff to share ideas.
Attendees can register online for the conference at www.zdevents.com/crmss/spring2000/federal.html.
