Job site slated for senior executives
Federal executives and senior-level specialists interested in finding positions inside and outside the government will soon be able to use a new job portal offered by the Senior Executives Association.
SEA is teaming up with Avue Technologies, a public sector workforce management company based in Tacoma, Wash., to create the Web portal, which will begin signing up users in September, according to SEA President Carol Bonosaro.
"We had been thinking for a long time about what a tremendous pool of talent that these executives represent and when many of them retire they go on to second careers- there is life after government-and over time it has not been unusual for us to get calls from search firms or companies looking for particular talent from the federal service, and there, of course, has been no easy way to access this pool of applicants," Bonosaro said.
The site will allow SEA's 7,000 members to create an online resume that can be used to apply for multiple positions and be available to employers. Users can also hide their resumes from certain employers and track who has viewed their information in the system.
"We're thrilled to be affiliated with the leading organization representing the interests of senior government managers," said Linda Rix, Co-CEO of Avue Technologies. "We look forward to working with the Senior Executives Association-along with our other affiliates-to pursue improvements in public sector workforce management and to increase access to federal employment to all interested Americans."
Bonosaro said a survey of members indicated high interest in the venture.
"This is just a natural, and I think there is going to be a lot of interest in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors," Bonosaro said.
Avue does business with several federal agencies, including the Forest Service and the Library of Congress, and last year, created a jobs Web portal for Blacks in Government. Avue is developing the site at no cost to SEA.
