GSA insider to fill top position on acting basis

The General Services Administration's deputy administrator will step up to become the acting administrator on Nov. 1.

David Bibb will replace Stephen Perry, who announced his resignation earlier this month.

In a statement released by GSA, Bibb said, "I'm looking forward to continuing the fine work we have been doing at GSA under the leadership of Administrator Perry until the position is filled on a permanent basis.…GSA is making great strides in meeting the needs of all federal agencies for excellent acquisition services which are reliable, consistent and fully compliant."

As deputy administrator, Bibb worked closely with Perry, and worked directly on GSA's Get It Right initiative and on implementing the President's Management Agenda.

Bibb joined GSA as an intern in 1971 in Atlanta. Over the last 30 years, he has held a variety of positions, including deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner for planning in GSA's Public Buildings Service. He also worked on real property management issues as deputy associate administrator for real property in GSA's Governmentwide Policy office.

Bibb is a graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., and earned a master of science degree from Florida State University.
