The Department of Homeland Security has delayedâ€"againâ€"a planned rule change that would require federal contractors to verify their employees’ immigration status. Federal contractors and subcontractors will be required to begin using the E-Verify system on May 21, which would allow the Obama administration an opportunity to review the proposal, officials said.

The rule was originally scheduled to take effect on Jan. 15 but the Bush administration postponed the change because of a lawsuit filed by five business interest groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
