Not Getting the Message on Drunk Driving
I can't seem to turn on my TV these days without seeing one of those Transportation Department-sponsored messages about a crackdown on drunk driving. I guess there's a reason for the advertising binge: The Washington Post's Dr. Gridlock column reports that officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration unveiled a survey Wednesday showing that one in five Americans admit that they have climbed behind the wheel of a car after drinking. Eight percent of drivers acknowledged they have driven drunk at least once in the past year.
