Just Saying No to Scanners

As TSA body imaging scanners are rolled out at more and more airports, most travelers seem to be greeting them with a shrug, or at least resigned acceptance. But some are mounting an attack on the new approach, encouraging travelers to opt out of being scanned en masse, especially on the day before Thanksgiving, typically one of the heaviest travel days of the year.

Of course, those who opt out will be subject to TSA's new pat-down procedures rolled out recently.

As the scanners become more and more prevalent, this only promises to get more acrimonious. Just this week, a female passenger claimed she was handcuffed to a chair and had her plane ticket ripped up after refusing to be scanned. TSA says video footage from the checkpoint shows that's not true.
