Survival Story
The Washington Post has a truly gripping account, slated to appear in Sunday's paper, of the survivors of the Aug. 9 crash in Alaska of a plane carrying Sen. Ted Stevens and several of his friends and former employees.
Those survivors included Sean O'Keefe, a longtime top civil servant whose positions included head of NASA and deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. His story of wondering whether his son was alive dangling in a seat in front of him, then struggling to remain conscious himself while dealing with the severe pain of multiple injuries, is both harrowing and inspiring.
