What Managers Are Concerned About

I just sat in on a presentation at our Excellence in Government conference by our Executive Coach blogger and leadership expert Scott Eblin. He asked the managers and executives in attendance to list their challenges about operating in the current federal environment. Here are some of the things they listed:

• Expectations from the public are high and getting higher.
• Requirements to be transparent in all aspects of government operations are increasing.
• There's continuous pressure to achieve more with fewer resources.
• Demands by employees -- and managers -- to telework are increasing.
• More than ever, government operates in perpetual crisis mode.
