OPM Chief Gets Lion Cub Namesake
By Brian Kalish
Washington movers and shakers get lots of accolades. But how many can say they've had a lion cub named after them? As of Saturday, OPM's John Berry can.
The National Zoo has named the sole male in the lioness Shera's litter John, after Berry, according to the zoo's website. Berry was director of the zoo from 2006 to early 2009.
John was born on Aug. 31 and has three siblings. An additional three lion cubs were born to Nababiep on September 22. Among the cubs other names are Lusaka, named for a lioness that died last January, and Baruti, named by a day care class from Arlington, Va.
The Berry naming was first reported by Federal News Radio.
