OPM Announces Early Departure for DC Feds
The Office of Personnel Management has authorized a two-hour early departure for federal employees in the Washington area on Wednesday due to expected snowfall in the region this evening.
Non-emergency employees can leave two hours before their typical departure time from work today and OPM will grant them administrative leave for the remaining hours. For example, if employees usually leave at 5:00 p.m., then they should depart at 3:00 p.m. to avoid what is sure to be a messy commute.
Emergency employees and telework employees are expected to remain on duty, unless otherwise directed by their agencies. The status of the federal government currently is open.
There is a winter storm warning in effect for the Washington metro area until 4:00 a.m. Thursday, with between 5 and 10 inches of accumulation expected.
