Transparent Input
By Robery Brodsky
Curious about which administration regulations industry lobbyists find the most onerous? So is Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. And he plans to share industry's recommendations with the public.
In December, Issa wrote to 150 trade groups, corporations and think tanks asking for their input on regulations that were prohibiting job growth and which should be repealed. On Monday, The Hill reported that Issa plans to publicly release all of the responses he receives, once his staff has the chance to analyze them.
The letters have drawn the scorn of House Democrats, including the committee's new ranking member, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., who suggested they were "inviting businesses to tell us what they want us to do as opposed to protecting the American people."
