What the New GOP Overseers Will Investigate
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif, incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has made no secret of the fact that he wants to launch a series of wide-ranging investigations into Obama administration activities, with the aim of ferreting out waste and abuse in the executive branch.
Now, POLITICO has gotten its hands on a document showing exactly what Issa intends to probe. According to an outline of hearing topics obtained by the publication, in just the first few months alone, the committee will investigate WikiLeaks, Fannie Mae, corruption in Afghanistan, how regulation affects job creation and recalls at the Food and Drug Administration.
The order in which the hearings will take place hasn't been determined yet. They'll start later this month, and are likely to make the Oversight Committee the focal point of House GOP efforts to wrest control of the national agenda from the White House.
