Budget: Progress on Priority Goals
Last year, President Obama ordered agencies to set high-priority performance goals that they could achieve without legislative action or new resources. Now, the fiscal 2012 budget says OMB has started monitoring the process at 24 agencies and will conduct "quarterly constructive data-driven reviews" of progress.
This year, OMB and its Performance Improvement Council "will launch a community-of-practice to strengthen agency capacity to prepare for and run effective internal results reviews and help federal agencies strengthen their analytic skills to extract insights and actionable lessons from the data they gather and integrate root cause analyses and hypothesis testing into program operations."
