Deadline Extension For Disability Hiring Plans
Agencies have an extra month to put the final touches on their plans to hire more people with disabilities.
A March 4 memo from Office of Personnel Management Deputy Director Christine Griffin extends the deadline for agencies submitting proposals aimed at increasing the number of disabled workers from March 8 to April 11. A July 2010 executive order directed agencies to improve their efforts to recruit and retain people with disabilities.
Griffin's memo instructs agencies to link hiring goals for people with disabilities to their overall strategic hiring plans.
"Agencies should consider, among other factors, current and projected hiring trends, disability hiring and retention trends, and the agency workforce succession plan," the memo stated.
Agencies should submit their plans to Michael LaRosa via email at michael.larosa@opm.gov.
