OMB Official to Testify on Procurement and Politics
It looks like Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Sam Graves, R-Mo., are going to get their way when it comes to securing testimony from the Office of Management and Budget on a policy proposal the Obama administration is kicking around that would require would-be federal contractors to disclose their political contributions.
Earlier this week, OMB officials declined to testify at a hearing scheduled for tomorrow on the administration's draft proposal, saying it was just that -- a draft. Issa and Graves threatened to use their subpoena power to compel OMB testimony.
Now Issa's Oversight and Government Reform Committee has announced that OMB has agreed to allow Daniel Gordon, head of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, to testify at the joint hearing of the overight panel and the House Small Business Committee.
This may create an interesting precedent for administration cooperation with congressional oversight of executive branch policies even before they're approved or implemented.
