Show Public Servants Some Love
It's a nice coincidence that one of government's most impressive accomplishments in recent memory--the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan--just happened to come at the start of Public Service Recognition Week.
So how can you say thanks to those civil servants who not only to those who pull off this kind of achievement, but serve their country in more prosaic, if no less important ways? With Congress having stripped funding for Public Service Recognition Week activities in Washington, others have had to step into the breach. For example, GovLoop and Code for America, a group aimed at trying to find web-based solutions for problems facing cities, have come up with We Love Public Service, a site aimed at encouraging people to share their support for government employees and their appreciation for the work civil servants do.
