Lights Still Out at GSA

The lights were still out at the General Services Administration and two other federal buildings Wednesday afternoon and Pepco, Washington's main electricity provider, didn't have a firm answer on when power would be restored.

In the meantime, employees are teleworking or on administrative leave, spokespeople said.

The other affected federal buildings are the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. All three buildings are located within about half a mile of each other near First Street in northeast Washington.

Pepco had located and repaired several damaged underground lines that caused the outage but had not yet located other damaged lines, according to a statement.

The company said it hoped to have a better estimate on when power would be restored by Wednesday evening and was responding to customer complaints on Twitter.
