The ubiquity of smart phones, the ascendancy of iTunes and the expanding universe of mobile applications are changing the way we work and play. Government is no exception. An app developed by NASA for example, delivers streaming video, high resolution photographs, launch schedules, satellite tracking and more.
It's not surprising that NASA is leading the way on this technological frontier, but other agencies are right behind them. Apps that run on iPhones, iPads and Android smart phones are having an impact on operations from the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments to the Internal Revenue Service, Food and Drug Administration and Federal Communications Commission.
