For Feds, There is Such a Thing as a Free Lunch
On Thursday, the social networking site GovLoop will take to the streets to feed hungry federal workers, who may be pinching pennies due to the pay freeze.
GovLoop will commandeer two Washington-area food trucks stationed near the L'Enfant Plaza and Federal Triangle metro stops to hand out 500 free lunches to anyone who can identify themselves as a public servant. The lunches will be provided by Cap Mac and BBQ Bus between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in celebration of GovLoop reaching 50,000 members.
The event, which GovLoop is dubbing Free Food for Feds, is not limited to federal employees; state and local government workers can get in on the action, too, provided they bring proper identification. Mouth-watering selections will include pulled pork, vegetarian chili, and macaroni and cheese.
