The Cabinet Secretary Who Doesn't Use Email. Ever.
Janet Napolitano admits she's a "Luddite" when it comes to online communication.
At today's Cybersecurity Summit, co-hosted by Government Executive and National Journal, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano discussed the need to protect critical public and private sector information networks. Asked by moderator and GovExec columnist Shane Harris about the practices she uses in keeping her own information secure online -- such as her email -- Napolitano had a somewhat surprising response.
"Don't laugh, but I just don't use e-mail at all," she said.
For "a whole host of reasons," the DHS chief said, "I don't have any of my own accounts. So I'm very secure."
"Some would call me a Luddite," Napolitano admitted.
