Video: President Obama Reads Mean Tweets on Kimmel, Again
Twitter users made fun of the 44th president's jeans, his fitness routine and negotiating skills.
During a visit to the West Coast, President Obama stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night . The president spent three segments with the late-night talk show host to discuss his marriage, the 2016 election and even Snapchat .
Obama also participated in a "Mean Tweets" segment. In the JKL staple, celebrities read insulting tweets directed at themselves. Obama appeared on the show once before, in a March 2015 segment on JKL .
Kimmel revealed in a September Hollywood Reporter interview that the president was disappointed in the lack of vitriol in the 2015 segment.
Obama doing them was a pretty great thing. And it's funny because when he came in and did them — you know, obviously he has people and they're concerned. I mean, mean tweets could potentially go sideways. So they went through them and they cherry-picked the mean tweets that they thought would be appropriate for the president. And he sat down and he just starts looking at them and he goes, "You guys, you missed a lot of … These are not mean enough." And I'm sitting there, giving the stink eye to his people because we wanted him to read the really mean ones, and he doesn't understand why he's not reading the mean ones and nobody wins.
Obama got to read some slightly meaner tweets on Monday night. He read some that made fun of his physique and his fashion sense, and he even got a chance to clap back at a certain GOP presidential nominee who loves Twitter.
