White House defends solicitor general
Donald Verrilli's health-care-law arguments before the Supreme Court have been criticized.
The White House on Wednesday defended Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, the man charged with defending the 2010 health reform law before the Supreme Court. Verrilli's arguments before the court on Tuesday have been criticized by analysts and observers.
“Mr. Verrilli is an extraordinarily talented advocate who possesses a sharp mind, keen judgment, and unquestionable integrity. He ably and skillfully represented the United States before the Supreme Court yesterday, and we have every confidence that he will continue to do so," White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler said in a statement.
