Photo: In Hurricane Sandy, Soldier Guards Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

According to a Facebook page for the 3rd Infantry Regiment, soldiers continue to stand guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier despite the heavy rains and harsh winds of Hurricane Sandy:

The Sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier maintain their vigil even as Hurricane Sandy bears down on the Eastern Seaboard. The Old Guard has guarded the tomb every minute of every day since April 6, 1948. Today will be no exception.

NPR reported in 2011 that, despite Hurricane Irene, The Old Guard stood watch outside the tomb in Arlington National Cemetery.
