Feds Don’t Work as Hard as Private Sector, 68% of Americans Say
Rasmussen poll finds only 9% think government employees work harder.
Sixty-eight percent of Americans say federal employees don’t work as hard as their private-sector counterparts, according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports.
Nine percent of those surveyed felt government employees work harder than private sector workers, and 23 percent weren’t sure, the polling company said.
The same poll, which surveyed 1,000 adults on April 30 and May 1, asked respondents about the federal response to long-term unemployment. Ten percent said the government should hire people who have been unemployed for a long period, 14 percent said their unemployment benefits should be extended indefinitely, 28 percent said government should pay for retraining, and 34 percent said government should do nothing, the polling firm said.
Rasmussen described the poll's margin of sampling error as +/- 3, with a 95 percent level of confidence.
