Agencies in Washington Open With Unscheduled Leave Friday
Announcement comes as snowstorm moves through eastern United States.
Federal agencies in the Washington area will be open on Friday, with employees allowed to take unscheduled leave or telework, the Office of Personnel Management announced Thursday evening.
The move came as snow fell in the nation's capital during a storm that affected much of the east coast.
"Non-emergency employees must notify their supervisor of their intent to use unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework (if telework-ready)" OPM said in its announcement. Telework-ready employees and those who notify their supervisors of their intent to telework "must be prepared to telework for the entire workday, or take unscheduled leave, or a combination of both, for the entire workday...," the agency said.
