Washington-Area Agencies Open Under 3-Hour Delay
Employees also have the option to take unscheduled leave, telework.
As a late-season winter storm hit the northeastern United States, the Office of Personnel Management announced Tuesday morning that federal agencies in the Washington area would open three hours late.
"Non-emergency employees who report to the office will be granted excused absence (administrative leave) for up to 3 hours past their expected arrival time," OPM said in an operating status update.
Employees also can take unscheduled telework, if they have been approved to telework. They "must be prepared to telework for the entire workday, or take unscheduled leave, or a combination of both, for the entire workday in accordance with their agency's policies and procedures," OPM said.
