Washington-Area Federal Offices to Open Two Hours Late Following Snowstorm
Thursday's delayed opening follows a closure on Wednesday.
Federal agencies in the Washington region will be open two hours late on Thursday as a late-season winter storm brought several inches of snow into the area, the Office of Personnel Management announced Wednesday night.
Emergency employees and those who were scheduled to telework are still required to report, OPM announced, while non-emergency employees have the option for unscheduled leave or telework. Employees traveling outside of the region for official duty will also be expected to work as normal.
The Baltimore Federal Executive Board recommended agencies in and around the city open at 10 a.m., but the federal offices themselves will individually make the final call.
Most of the Washington area received between three and six inches of snow, but some exurbs received as much as nine inches. Snowfall had ceased by Wednesday afternoon. Capital Weather Gang, The Washington Post’s meteorologists, called OPM’s decision “generous.”
Wow, this is generous... https://t.co/lGUUvL3A7W
