D.C.-Area Agencies Open With Unscheduled Leave, Telework
First winter weather event of the season hits region.
It's not even December yet, and federal employees in the Washington, D.C. area have received their first notice of a winter weather operating status change from the Office of Personnel Management.
OPM announced early Thursday that agencies would remain open, with the option for employees to take unscheduled leave or telework. The move came as a mixture of sleet, snow and rain swept across the region.
"Non-emergency employees must notify their supervisor of their intent to use unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework (if telework-ready)," OPM's notice said. Emergency employees must report to work on time.
