Play of the Day: What Will Congress Do With the Whistleblower Complaint?
Will the legislative branch try to punish Trump afer new revelations about his phone call with the Ukranian leader?
President Donald Trump is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly and will address the organization this week. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the event, saying "he'll be speaking to a room full of leaders from different cultures and ethnicities, so it's Trump's version of a haunted house."
Trump is under fire from members of Congress for a whistleblower complaint that said Trump asked for election help from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the vein of a Ukrainian investigation into Joe Biden's family. Fallon joked that Trump said he "was just trying to make Putin jealous," while Late Late Show's James Corden joked that Zelensky's role is like when a film franchise can't get the original villain (Vladimir Putin) back for a sequel. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicated she is not closer to bringing impeachment orders to Congress, prompting Late Night's Seth Meyers to joke that Pelosi will "politely ask again" if Trump doesn't release the phone call transcript and Jimmy Kimmel also joked "thinking seriously about threatening to maybe consider almost doing something about it."
