Top five parking ticket offenders
A look at the agencies where employees owed the most in fines assessed on government vehicles for 2007.
Democratic investigators for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Friday reported that by the end of 2007, federal employees had failed to pay Washington and New York City more than $175,000 in parking fines assessed on government vehicles. The following is a list of the agencies with the most outstanding tickets, according to the report:
Washington (calendar year 2007)
1. Army, $12,350
2. Navy, $8,010
3. Air Force, $7,480
4. General Services Administration, $4,150
5. Interior Department, $4,050
New York City (as of December 2007; includes only agencies enrolled in the city's Fleet Program)
1. FBI, $34,908
2. State Department, $28,333
3. Marine Corps, $19,552
4. Drug Enforcement Administration, $9,182
5. U.S. Postal Inspection Service, $8,490
