A week of history ends after the immigration bill clears the Senate and the Supreme Court hands down landmark decisions.
The Supreme Court’s decisions on marriage rights this week continued to be a main source of humor on late-night television Thursday. The Tonight Show ’s Jay Leno got into the machinations of the defense of DOMA, while Jimmy Kimmel wondered what the founding fathers would think about gay marriage. With the decision on the Voting Rights Act, Conan O’Brien wondered what a certain celebrity thought about this week.
On CBS, The Late Show ’s David Letterman showed another installment of “Memorable Presidential Speeches on the Environment,” this time featuring presidents Clinton, Nixon and Bush. Leno also looked at the purpose of Barack Obama’s trip to Africa this week and his message to the people of Senegal.
On Comedy Central, The Daily Show ’s John Oliver mocked Vladimir Putin’s comments on the whereabouts of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden . Stephen Colbert looked at the Gang of Eight and their stewardship of the immigration bill , specifically examining the border security plan in the bill.
