Play of the Day: Australian Elections Are Just Like Ours
The Daily Show looks down under for American analogs.
At the Missouri State Fair in Jefferson City, a rodeo clown donned a mask of President Barack Obama’s face to distract an angry bull . Conan O’Brien took opportunity to joke about the bull’s reaction, connecting it to the American public’s patience for Obama himself. In other sports news, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel showed a photograph of Obama on the golf course this week , asking if Obama was golfing or taking a Zumba class.
The Daily Show looked toward Australia to compare politicians there to the those in the United States. Australia’s short election schedule -- the 2013 elections will take fewer than six weeks between the time they were called and Election Day -- makes for quicker rising and falling of candidates. Host John Oliver highlighted a particular candidate who resembled a former candidate for vice president in the United States.
