Ryan Shucard, the Press Secretary for Republican Rep. Tom Marino, was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
A Hill staffer was arrested by Capitol Police this morning for bringing a handgun into the Cannon House Office Building.
NBC News reports that Ryan Shucard, the Press Secretary for Republican Rep. Tom Marino, was charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License, a felony, after Capitol Police arrested him at about 9:15 AM. Shucard was carrying a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun and magazine.
Capitol Police spokeswoman Lt. Kimberly Schneider told Roll Call that the weapon was found during a routine search. To enter Cannon staff members have to go through a metal detector and run their bags through an X-Ray machine. Marino's chief of staff said Shucard has been placed on unpaid leave indefinitely. Shucard has only been with the office since May.
