Play of the Day: The Dress is Really Just a Symbol
Fallon and SNL compare it to Obama, Last Week Tonight ties it to net neutrality.
Social media and the blogosphere blew up late last week when a photo of a dress circulated. Some saw it as blue and black, while others saw it as gold and white, but everyone was talking about it… including late-night TV hosts. Last Week Tonight's John Oliver tied it to the FCC passage of net neutrality rules, while Saturday Night Live used it as a vessel to talk about Barack Obama's standing in Americans' minds. Also on NBC, Jimmy Fallon used it in a Photoshop job summing up the week's biggest news (he also included the escaped llamas, marijuana's legalization in DC and the weirdest story out of the Oscars).
Oliver spent the bulk of his show Sunday on the dangerous national infrastructure problem and, specifically, explained the United States Highway Trust Fund and the way it is funded. Be sure to check out how Oliver notes the time since a gas tax bill was passed at 2:45.
