Play of the Day: Ben Carson's Rap Radio Ad
Campaign ads can be tricky, especially when original songs are involved.
Jeb Bush's campaign has been struggling lately and a recent gaffe has reinforced some conventional wisdom around the former Florida governor. In talking to New Hampsire elementary school students, Bush said of his father "All he would have to say is 'I'm disappointed in you' and it would send me into a deep spiraling depression for days." The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the comment Thursday, saying the leder Bush would say it every night to his son.
Dr. Ben Carson is currently leading in many GOP polls, but the big news around his campaign involved his radio ad released Thursday. In the ad supposedly aimed at African-American voters, aspiring hip hop artist Aspiring Mogul raps over a beat about Carson. The song has been heavily mocked online and late-night comedians followed suit. The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore suggested it won't appeal to any black voters, whole Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the song's sound, comparing it to early 1990s rap.
