Play of the Day: John Oliver Explains the Medicaid Gap
Maybe it's not time yet to celebrate with a backflip and a broken leg.
With Halloween happening Saturday, Late Show's Stephen Colbert devoted his show Friday to the holiday. Colbert and his guests dressed in costumes and even tailored his desk jokes to the holiday. One story he covered was the Peoria, Arizona inflatable pumpkin that got loose late last week. Colbert, dressed as a vampire, found a way to tie it to politics, comparing the inflatable fake gourd to presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Last Week Tonight's John Oliver focused the show's main segment Sunday night on the Medicaid gap and how this week's state elections in Mississippi, Kentucky, Virginia and New Jersey will affect it. Oliver looked at the term "Medicaid gap" and even threw a drive-by set of jokes toward pangolins because Washington state has a referendum on its ballot this week protecting endangered species.
