Play of the Day: North Korea's Hydrogen Bomb Test Is Confusing

Late-night TV looks at the hermit kingdom's latest claims.

The group calling itself Citizens for Constitutional Freedom remains ensconced at the federal Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building, so Late Night's Seth Meyers devoted his "A Closer Look" segment to the group and some of its idiosyncrasies. In a bizarre segment that aired on MSNBC, group member Lavoy Finicum hid under a tarp on live TV, prompting Meyers to say the situation sounded like "a guess in militia Clue." Meyers also mocked videos the group made asking for supporters to join the protest, specifically one that spoke highly of the parking situation.

North Korea announced this week that it has successfully tested a hydrogen bomb, leading late-night TV to joke about the hermit kingdom. Meyers joked about Kim Jong-un's size, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon tied the rest to Chipotle's recent scandals. Jimmy Kimmel read part of a confusing statement involving a metaphor with wolves from North Korea and even suggested that the North Korean people would rather have shoes and food than atomic weapons.
